The Washington
The Washington, situated just next to Devonshire Green on Fitzwilliam Street, is a late night pub and live music venue that lives at the heart of the Sheffield music scene. With free entry live music by Sheffield based musicians and touring artists from the UK and beyond on most weekday nights as well as hosting some of Sheffield’s best DJs keeping the vibes going until 3am, The Washy truly is a hub for Sheffield’s creatives to relax, get a groove on or maybe even find their new favourite underground artist.
The Washy lives in many Sheffield based musicians’ hearts as the venue that hosted their first ever gig (and maybe their fiftieth!), but over the years it’s played host to some of the UK’s most exciting breakout artists! Sporting a traditional pub feel with a twist, you can find a relaxed seating area on one side and an intimate stage and dancefloor on the other – plus a beautiful large beer garden at the rear of the venue where you might just overhear musos pontificating on Pulp’s Peel Sessions (fun fact: the venue was actually part-owned by Pulp drummer Nick Banks in the nineties!).
